Hershey, PA - Penn State College of Medicine (PSCOM) and Penn State Health (PSH) seek a dynamic, visionary and experienced academic leader with a record of accomplishment in administration, research and education as the Chair, Department of Pathology. This Chair will lead through innovation and a vision for the advancement of pathology and laboratory services, scholarly activity and enhancing the educational programs within a nationally recognized health system and medical school. 

For the last 50 years, PSCOM and The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC) have served as central Pennsylvania’s only university medical center and medical school. The establishment of PSH in 2014 has been an important contributor in transforming the institution into a comprehensive academic health system to include primary, specialty and acute care locations spanning the region.

The Department of Pathology at PSCOM is comprised of over 40 faculty and 240 staff, who provide comprehensive anatomical and clinical pathology services across 18 subspecialties. The Department delivers high quality clinical services, advanced educational programs and leading research discoveries through the Anatomical, Clinical, and Experimental Pathology Divisions.

The next Chair will be an accomplished leader in Pathology with experience working within a complex academic health system.  S/he will have the in-depth knowledge and ability to effectively lead physicians, researchers, and educators, while embracing the importance of inter-departmental collaboration, quality, customer service and fiscal responsibility.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal communication with a demonstrated ability to promote the growth of others, inspire, manage and collaborate. S/he will set forth and implement a vibrant and energizing vision to contemporize and distinguish the Department on a national-level. This leader will advance an uncompromising standard of professionalism and establish a larger institutional view, which is integral to the Department's success. Candidates must possess an M.D., M.D. /Ph.D., Ph.D or equivalent degree and board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology and warrant qualification for appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher at PSCOM.
