The Department of Pathology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson announces a faculty position opening for an experienced Pathologist with a subspecialty in Gastrointestinal Pathology at Banner University Medical Center Tucson (BUMC-T). BUMC-T is a 463-bed general medical and surgical facility with more than 25,000 admissions, 70,000 ED visits, and 14,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries on an annual basis.

The Faculty of the Department of Pathology plays a key role in supporting the mission of the College of Medicine to bring about better health and improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases for the people of Arizona and beyond through education, research, and patient care. Candidate will receive an academic appointment to the University of Arizona commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities and features:

  • - Clinical service work in Surgical Pathology with emphasis in Gastrointestinal Pathology
  • - Administrative direction of the Gastrointestinal Pathology service
  • - Direction of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship
  • - Teach residents and medical students, and participate in scholarly activities appropriate to academic medicine, Clinical Scholar track
  • - Night and weekend Anatomic Pathology call, as needed
  • - Monday through Friday work schedule - 1.0 FTE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • - MD/DO
  • - Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology
  • - Completion of fellowship training and/or significant additional expertise in GI Pathology
  • - 5+ years minimum experience
  • - Hold or be eligible for State of Arizona Medical License
  • - Subspecialty expertise in additional area of surgical pathology or cytopathology preferred
